Erin Silkowski: President
Why I Relay: Cancer has affected many members of my family and close friends. It took the lives of my grandma and Mrs. LaManna, and recently my brother's musical inspiration and piano teacher, Mr. Peters. My step grandma, my mom's best friend Mrs. Kirby, and my friend's brother are currently battling cancer. But there is still hope. Relay for Life is creating more birthdays, and more survivors each year. Survivors like my friends Sue Slinger and Brian Vetter, and my high school teacher Mrs. Treat. I relay for this hope. Hope that one day, we will find a cure, and no one will ever have to hear the words "you have cancer" again. I relay because I want tears of joy, not sadness. I relay to make a difference, and most importantly, I relay for YOU!
Devin Casey: Vice President and Relay for Life Chair
Why I Relay: I relay to support those who have been affected by cancer; family members, friends, those who have been diagnosed, and those that are still fighting. I also relay in memory of those who have passed. Cancer does not discriminate and has the potential to affect everyone and anyone, one way or another. Relay for Life gives us a chance to raise money, gives us hope, and reminds us to keep fighting, so that one day cancer will no longer be such a dominant force.
Kevin Morrissey: Vice President and Relay for Life Chair
Cara Esposito: Relay for Life Assistant
Stacey Harrington: Relay for Life Assistant
Why I Relay: Why wouldn't I relay is the question! Try and find one person today who hasn't been affected by cancer in some way - it's nearly impossible! I relay to celebrate survivors of cancer. I relay to remember all those we've lost to cancer. I relay to help fight back for all those currently battling cancer. I relay for my family, friends, teachers, peers, and community. I relay for my grandma, who just began her battle, for Mr. Tarrant, who has been fiercely fighting for a while now, and for Mr. Roland, Nick, and Nagy, who have passed. I relay so that in the future nobody will even have to relay, because cancer will have become a thing of the past. I also relay because it is FUN! Relay for Life and Colleges Against Cancer have molded my strong passion for the cause and created some of my fondest memories here at TCNJ so far! Figure out why you relay, and DO IT!
Shruti Patel: Cancer Education and Advocacy/ Secretary
Why I Relay: I relay for all of those fighting cancer. It has affected my loved ones, and relaying is one of the biggest things I could do to help them out. I relay for my aunt and grandfather who have died of cancer and for my other aunt who is fighting cancer right now. It is a fun way to fight for an important cause.
Angela DeSantis: Event Chair
Victoria Iacovone: Event Chair
Why I Relay: I relay for my grams, who was diagnosed with cancer just a little over a year ago and is my inspiration to try and help rid the world of such a horrible disease. I relay to raise awareness so that one-day cancer, in whatever form, won’t exist. I relay for the memories of those who have passed and with hope that current fighters will become survivors. I relay to end the worry and pain felt by every family member, loved one and friend. I relay because I want to help find a cure.
Kelsey Snedeker: Publicity
Why I Relay: I relay because I believe I can make a difference. There is power in numbers and with everyone working together we can accomplish so much more in our quest to create a better future for everyone and generations to come. I relay for my two favorite people who were affected by cancer and taught me about the preciousness of life and the power of support and hugs. I relay because I hope that by walking through the night we can show fighters that we will not allow them to face this battle alone. I hope this may allow others to realize how cancer affects all of us. We must stand up today for a future that would include more answers, more birthdays, and more smiles.

If there is anything I want to do, it is to continue to honor my loved ones and continue to raise hope and awareness about cancer through both Relay for Life and Colleges Against Cancer. I relay in hope that one day we will find a cure! I am a double major in Special Education and History with a Minor in Communication Disorders, and will receive my Bachelor’s Degree in May 2013 and Master’s in Special Education in May 2014.
